Roche NZ Charity
Roche’s involvement in local communities makes an important contribution to our success. We align our support to charitable organisations linked to health, science and education, and we favour establishing long-term partnerships where we have an opportunity to make a real difference.
We believe our support fuels change and many sets of hands are better than one. Through ongoing initiatives we can help to achieve great outcomes for many people both in New Zealand and overseas.
In June, 2017, our employees around the world will join forces for the annual Roche Children's Walk. Since it started thirteen years ago, over 150,000 Roche employees have taken part and 12.5 million CHF have been raised. In 2015 alone, 133 Roche sites across 68 countries participated in the annual employee project.
With the purpose of encouraging self-sustainable living through skill-building, the money which Roche employees collect during the 24-hour global event is matched by Roche. Fifty percent of the funds raised can be used in support of local children or the entire amount can be donated to help children in one of the least developed countries in the world; Malawi in Southeast Africa.

Roche New Zealand participates in the Roche Global Children’s Walk and we donate 50% of the funds to a local charity. Roche participants have been sponsored by friends and family.
In 2017 over 20 participants raised $2,200 for Foster Hope.
In 2015 over 40 participants raised $3,500 for the Starship Foundation.
Roche NZ selected Alzheimers NZ as the charity organisation to support for 2015/2016. The support will be provided in two ways – financial donation as well as a ‘hands up’ to the local Auckland organisation. The donation to Alzheimers NZ in 2015 was $10,000.
In 2016 the Roche team joined Alzheimers Auckland volunteers to help with a local socialisation programme. This involved Roche staff offering time and assistance to help a group of people, affected by dementia, to enjoy activities in the greater Auckland area.
In February 2016 Roche NZ participated in a walk to 'Conquer Rangitoto' as a way to raise money for Alzheimers New Zealand. Nearly twenty members of the team enjoyed a leisurely hike up this historic volcano and together raised $1,695.
